Book Description
As cities are rapidly expanding and encroaching into agricultural and natural areas, a question of primary concern is how this expansion affects surrounding agriculture and natural landscapes. This book presents a wide spectrum of both theoretical and empirical approaches to simulation and assessment of landscape dynamics. The first part presents state-of-the-art modelling approaches pertaining to land-use changes entailed by the urban sprawl, at different spatial resolutions and temporal time scales. The second part is dedicated to case studies of the effects and consequences of the emerging urban-agriculture open space patterns.

Book Description
Transport Nodal System provides a comprehensive introduction to the development of transport nodes and nodal systems, focusing on economic, operational, management, planning, policy, regulation and sustainability perspectives. Through a deep analysis on different types of transport nodes from diverse perspectives, this book shows the major issues and challenges that transport node planners, managers, and policymakers face, and how to address them. The book provides a clear framework for identifying the common attributes across all nodes that contribute to the efficient operations, planning, and management of transport facilities. Transport nodes such as seaports, inland terminals, airports, highways, and railroads are hubs in a multimodal transportation network that facilitate the smooth operation of passengers and freight. The book uniquely uses the transport node itself rather than a specific type of structure for a specific type of transport mode as the primary focus of analysis. While stressing the importance of transport nodes in developing efficient logistics and supply chains, the book also demonstrates that transport nodes are geographically embedded within a particular location, and that operations are inevitably affected by local factors, such as culture, the economy, the political and regulatory environment and other institutions. Provides a unified look at multimodal transportation nodes to gain a better understanding of total system performance Includes numerous case studies from developed and emerging economies Uses an interdisciplinary approach where policy, regulations, economics, strategic management, operations, sustainability and technological innovation are considered together Features chapters by scholars who specialize in different transport modes (land, sea and air) Up-to-date outcomes utilizing author’s original research provide a systematic investigation of the nodal system in both theory and practice

Book Description
This is a book for people in the academic or business aspects of the medical industry, medical professionals doing research or looking for a job, medical students, patients and anyone else interested in the United States and Canada infrastructure of medical organization and hospital websites. I focused on American, Canadian and some UK medical organizations and hospitals in this book which made it good-sized already without dipping into my world medical book which offers medical resources for most countries. I created an American medical job book and a general American medical book which were both quite long so I took information about medical organizations and hospitals out of them and created a separate book. As far as information about American-Canadian medical organization and hospital websites go, there is no book or database anywhere that comes close to this one. It’s for the medical professional who wants this information at their fingertips all in one place. I got a bunch of medical organization and hospital websites from a website called theagapecenter com then it disappeared. A German outfit has taken the name over. The original website probably exists at archive.org. Dmoz.org was a human-filtered search site with good lists. It disappeared but is archived at dmoz-odp.org. It had a lot of good information on it. Beyond that, I put the lists of medical organizations and hospitals that I found all over the place in this book. I’m not repeating information in this book that is already in my other books. Find job websites and organizations for most medical careers at my book called: A Medical-Dental-Pharmacy Job-School-Organization Guide The 100 volumes of this book are as follows: Volume 1. Find a Doctor-Hospital-Clinic-Healer Guide Volume 2. Find a Dentist Guide Volume 3. An Online Health Care Resource Guide at healthcarehiring Volume 4. U.S. State and Federal Medical Boards and Agencies at healthcarehiring Volume 5. U.S. Medical Professional Associations and Government Medical Boards and Agencies at healthcarehiring Volume 6. Book Description
Strangers in New Homelands is a collection of papers emanating from Annual International Conferences on the Social Reconstruction of the concept of “home” among immigrants in the diaspora. For many immigrants in the diaspora, the concept of “home”, around which this conference has revolved, evokes confusion, fear, hopes, and aspirations. The presentations in this book therefore seek to throw light on what this concept means for many people who have uprooted themselves from their familiar environments and settled or seek to make new homes out of strange and unfamiliar environments. The contributors in this publication were drawn from the field of researchers on immigrant and refugee movements and settlements, education, community development and front-line immigrant and refugee settlement workers. They draw on experiences from their research, field practice vignettes, personal experiences and case work examples to highlight and explore the critical issues involved in the field of forced and voluntary migration and resettlement around the world, and the settlement of migrants and refugees in new societies. Cumulatively, the contributors examine the challenges of settlement, integration and adaptation that new comers face in host societies. The critical approaches and strong balance of research with applications show the implications of the issues for the profession of social work and allied fields. The scholarship presented here also highlights the implications of the issues discussed for further research and social policy development. Anyone interested in learning about the challenges and intricacies of the migration process around the world must read this book. It is highly recommended for politicians, policy makers, social work professionals, educators and organizations dealing with immigrants and refugees.

Book Description
At least one in four women attending college or university will be sexually assaulted by the time they graduate. Beyond this staggering statistic, recent media coverage of “rape chants” at Saint Mary’s University, misogynistic Facebook posts from Dalhousie University’s dental school, and high-profile incidents of sexual violence at other Canadian universities point to a widespread culture of rape on university campuses and reveal universities’ failure to address sexual violence. As university administrations are called to task for their cover-ups and misguided responses, a national conversation has opened about the need to address this pressing social problem. This book takes up the topic of sexual violence on campus and explores its causes and consequences as well as strategies for its elimination. Drawing together original case studies, empirical research, and theoretical writing from scholars and community and campus activists, this interdisciplinary collection charts the costs of campus sexual violence on students and university communities, the efficacy of existing university sexual assault policies and institutional responses, and historical and contemporary forms of activism associated with campus sexual violence.
